Why this page exists
Modern Academy Cancún publishes a general privacy policy that covers its website and its subdomains, including this one. You can read it here:

That’s the main document. This supplement covers only what’s specific to this Winter & Ski Camp page, which works differently from the rest of the school’s site.
We wrote it for parents to read, not for lawyers.
First, what that policy does NOT cover here
We’d rather say this up front. The general policy describes things this page doesn’t do:
- We don’t use the Facebook Pixel or any social media pixel.
- We don’t use advertising or remarketing cookies. We won’t follow you around with ads because you visited.
- We don’t process payments on this page. No checkout, no card, no charge.
- There are no accounts or passwords. You can’t sign up.
- There are no forms. We won’t ask you to type your details into a field.
- There’s no newsletter.
What we do, and the general policy doesn’t mention, is below.
What happens when you open this page
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how many people visit, which countries they come from, and which sections they read. That’s what it’s for. Nothing else.
What Google receives:
- Your IP address, to work out an approximate country and city. Google Analytics does not store it.
- A random identifier for your browser — it doesn’t carry your name.
- Your device type, browser, language, and screen size.
- Which pages you viewed and how far you scrolled.
What it does not receive: your name, email, phone number, or your child’s name. None of that is entered anywhere on this page.
It only runs if you accept it. If you decline cookies in the banner, Google Analytics never loads and nothing is sent.

What happens when you tap WhatsApp
Every button on this page opens WhatsApp with a message already written. You decide whether to send it.
When you do:
- We receive your phone number, your WhatsApp display name, and your profile photo. That’s how WhatsApp works; it isn’t something we set up.
- The conversation lives on your phone and on the phone of MAcC’s Admissions team.
- WhatsApp is owned by Meta. Message content is end-to-end encrypted, but Meta does process data about who messages whom and when. That’s governed by the WhatsApp Privacy Policy.
What we use your message for: to answer you and, if you decide to enrol your child, to run the admissions process. Nothing else.

Your child’s information
This camp is for teenagers aged 14 to 18, and the person who signs up is always a parent or legal guardian. So let’s be direct about this part.
Who should be messaging us. The WhatsApp channel is meant for an adult — a parent or legal guardian. If a student writes in, we ask that a responsible adult take over before we handle any enrolment details.
What we’ll ask about your child, and why. During the conversation we’ll need a few things so we can look after them properly out there:

Allergies and medical conditions are health data, so we handle them separately:
- We only ask once you’ve decided to move forward — never just to send you information.
- We only use them to look after your child during the camp. Never for marketing, never for anything else.
- We share them only with the people who need them: the staff travelling with the group, the chef, and if necessary the medical insurer or the clinicians treating your child.
- You, the parent or guardian, provide them with your explicit consent. If you’d rather share them through a channel other than WhatsApp, tell us and we’ll arrange it.
- We don’t keep them longer than the camp and any legal obligations that follow require. Exact period:

Photos and testimonials. This page shows photos of students from previous editions and comments from parents, published with their first names. If you or your child appear and you’d like them removed, write to us and we’ll take them down.
If you’re a MAcC student who saw the referral programme: share the link to this page with your friends. Please don’t hand us their contact details without them knowing. We’d rather hear from them or their parents directly.

Modern Academy Cancún is based in Mexico. All three providers are outside the country, so using this page involves international data transfers.

Transfers outside the EEA. Google, Meta, and our hosting provider process data in the United States.

Children in Europe. Under the GDPR, the age at which a child can consent on their own to online services is between 13 and 16, depending on the country. This camp is for teenagers aged 14 to 18, and the person who signs up is always a parent or legal guardian. If your child visited this page and accepted cookies, you can change that choice through Cookie preferences at the bottom of the page.
How to withdraw your consent
For analytics cookies Tap “Cookie preferences” at the bottom of this page. You can change your mind whenever you like, as often as you like. Withdrawing is exactly as easy as giving: same button.
Withdrawing consent doesn’t undo what was collected earlier, while it was active.
For what you sent us on WhatsApp Write to us and tell us you’d like us to stop using your information. One thing to keep in mind: even after we stop, the conversation will still be on your own phone until you delete it. That part is yours to control.
Exercising your rights under Mexican law (ARCO)
If you’re in Mexico, the law gives you the right to Access your data, have it Rectified if it’s wrong, have it Cancelled, and to Object to its use. You can also withdraw your consent.
